Are Your Habits Helping or Hurting You?

“The quality of your habits defines the caliber of your performance” (Robin Sharma)

It is a simple truth: the results you’ve been getting are a direct reflection of your current habits.

Habits of thinking, habits of feeling, habits of doing.

Your habits are either moving you towards your goals or away from them – often working in stealth mode and without you fully realizing the impact.

If you want higher quality (and more consistent) results, you need to create higher quality habits.

This week’s key thought: MAKE HABITS. BREAK HABITS.

So where can you begin?

1. Start with identifying the recurring behaviours that could be labeled ‘low quality habits’ by completing each of these statements:

The behaviours that I know do not support me in achieving my goals…

…as they relate to my training and workouts are….

…as they relate to my diet and nutrition are….

…as they relate to my sleep and recovery are….

…as they relate to my time management are….

…as they relate to my emotional state are….

…as they relate to my mental toughness are….

2. Then give each behaviour a quick score out of 10 (where 10 = most costly to your performance, energy levels or enjoyment of training).

3. Take 2-5 minutes to design what you need to do differently in that area to create a new, more empowering, high quality habit. Be as precise, specific and realistic as possible. Make it easy to execute and motivating to want to change.

Having good intentions and a plan to change won’t guarantee immediate success, but every step towards raising the quality of your habits is a step worth taking.

I’d love to know your answers to the statements above. Hit reply to this email and let me know what your most costly, low-quality habits are. I’ll read them all and provide more habit-forming strategies for the most common issues in future Monday Mindset Moment emails.

P.S. Is there a topic, question or favourite quote you’d like to share? Leave us a comment below and let us know. We’d love to hear from you.

The Mindset Moment is a little reminder, a friendly nudge and a caring kick up the backside to keep you on track to achieve your potential and goals. Just what we all need to jump start the week and always be at our best.
