Are You Playing Smaller than You’re Capable of?

“Make sure your worst enemy doesn’t live between your two ears” (Laird Hamilton)

Are you unnecessarily hard on yourself? Are you often reluctant to allow yourself to feel satisfied, happy, fulfilled or proud?

Are you playing smaller than you know you’re capable of?

Two of the most powerful forces in our lives are our self-image and self-talk.

Our self-image is a self-fulfilling prophecy – you behave most consistently in a way that is congruent with who you think you are.

Our self-talk is the fuel for our self-image. The words you use to describe yourself, to cajole yourself and prepare yourself for what lies ahead directly influences the quality of your actions and the lens of your perspective.

And the truth is we have a choice of the words we use and the image we create for ourselves.

There are enough doubters in this world who will try to bring you down and want to keep you average – so don’t do it to yourself.

You deserve to be the voice of your potential. The voice of strength, courage, humility and determination.

Your job this week is to evict your worst enemy from living between your ears. Instead, you’re going to offer free rent to your #1 fan.

This week’s key thought: ELEVATE YOUR IMAGE

1.     Brainstorm a list of phrases or words to define how you feel, act and show up as your best self. For example, Strong, Bold, Calm, Focused, Persistent, Proud, Never Quit, Not Too Serious, Confident, Happy, Passionate…and so on.

2.     Of all the phrases and words you come up with, choose THREE to set as your standards for this week.

3. Complete this sentence: “When I live from these three standards I am a person who…”

Choose words that lift you up and light you up. Post those words where you will see them every day, especially first thing in the morning – on your bathroom mirror, your car dashboard, your mobile phone or calendar alerts. Read and connect with them when you wake up in the morning and before you go to bed at night.

Raise the standard of your self-talk – starting today.

Expand your vision of yourself this week.

Make it your mission and your mindset to be that person for the next 7 days.

P.S. Don’t leave this as a nice thought! DO THE WORK! What THREE words you chose for your standards this week? Leave us a comment and let us know. We’d love to hear from you.

The Mindset Moment is a little reminder, a friendly nudge and a caring kick up the backside to keep you on track to achieve your potential and goals. Just what we all need to jumpstart the week and always be at our best.
