Do you ever tell yourself you can’t do something because you’re too old? Or not old enough yet?
Do you feel like the opportunity has passed you by? Or you need to wait a few more years before you feel “ready”?
What if you challenged those beliefs? I mean really stopped and interrogated those thoughts?
There are too many examples and testimonials of people – normal people – who have done what others think is impossible, crazy or risky for someone of ‘that age’.
Take for example Arthur Gilbert, WWII veteran and the world’s oldest triathlete, still going at 92, or Aly Houghton who qualified at the minimum age limit of 18 years old in Ironman Coeur D’Alene a few years back.
These are just two examples of people who have refused to let society and so called ‘common sense’ dictate what they knew their bodies were capable of – and yours is too.
This week’s key thought: NO LIMITS
So, what limitations have you put on yourself? It’s time to interrogate.
Pick one thing you’ve recently told yourself you can’t do because of your age or amount of experience.
Question 1: Is that true? I mean really true.
Question 2: How do you know? What proof and facts do you have?
Question 3: Has anyone at your age or level of experience done it before? Google if you need to.
Question 4: What would you do if you didn’t have that limiting belief? What incredible goal would you set for yourself? How much excitement and pride would you feel once you realized that goal and overcame those old, self-imposed restrictions?
Your body is always more capable than you think it is.
You can break through barriers when you have breakthrough thoughts.
So think young. Dream big. And refuse to feel old.
